Panchakarma is Ayurvedic medicine's mind-body healing program for detoxifying the body and mind, for eliminating excess doshas, and for restoring balance and promoting longevity. It is a very special and effective healing modality. It is recommended on a seasonal basis as well as when an individual is out of balance.
Benefits of Panchakarma:
Cleanses the deep tissues, promoting greater balance in body and mind
Restore your constitutional balance improving health and wellness
Support your immune system, enhancing the body’s natural resistance to illness
Enhance your self-reliance, strength, energy, vitality, and mental clarity
Bring about a sense of well-being and deep relaxation
Reverse the negative effects of stress on your body and mind thereby slowing the aging process
Completely individualized, your Panchakarma treatment is designed after an initial consultation to determine which treatments are necessary for your own specific health issues. The length and scope of panchakarma are determined by your imbalances, what doshas, tissues and functions are involved in the body/mind, your strength, your age, etc. Different lengths of time are needed to address different imbalances: generally 7 days is the minimum.
Your treatment protocol generally includes a daily pulse assessment and checkup, Abhyanga (warm oil massage), Swedhana (steam treatment), Shirodhara (a steady stream of warm, herbalized oil on the forehead), and Marma Chikitsa (energy point therapy). A therapeutic organic diet is also included.
Additional therapies may be recommended such as netra basti (eye bath), kati basti (deep heat treatment to the back), and pinda sweda (a warm poultice) at an additional cost.
I offer panchakarma on a limited basis in the fall and spring seasons. An initial consultation is required before panchakarma. The cost of the basic protocol is $425 a day.
Guided Home Cleanse Although Panchakarma can be extremely effective, sometimes the commitment is outside of our time or budget. If this is so, you might consider a guided home cleanse. Generally this includes two one hour consultations. During our first visit we will choose an ideal time to do your cleanse and I will give you all the instructions you need to properly and safely do a home cleanse that is tailored just for you. You will be given guidelines which include instructions on self massage, how to make kitchari for your diet and which herbs or oils that are right for you along with recommendations of where to order supplies. Gentle yoga postures and meditation will also be recommended. We will design a program that fits your health goals and works with the time you have available.
This combination of rest, herbs, routines and cleansing diet allows the body to release stored toxins into the digestive tract. It may be appropriate to either take purgative herbs or do a basti to release toxins that have accumulated during the cleanse.
Your follow up consultation can be done during or just after your cleanse to check in on your progress and support you emotionally and physically. This nourishing and gentle process releases toxins and excess doshas from your body which may give you more energy, improve clarity and give you a fresh start.
The cost for guidance in a home cleanse will vary depending on your situation. The basic package including two one hour consultations and tailored instructions are $250. Other products may be recommended at an additional cost.
It is recommended to do a home cleanse at least twice a year; generally during the spring and fall.
If time and budget allow, you may wish to supplement your home self-treatments with treatments at the clinic, particularly Abhyanga to increase the release of toxins and relaxation.
An initial consultation must be done before a guided home cleanse.
